The state –owned 24 hour news channel got launched in July 2006. The national and international happenings are reasonably spaced with a Russian perspective. VGRTK – the federal institution for State Television and Radio launched in 1990 – owns the channel. The channel since 2010 is broadcasting the content in 53 languages around the Russian regions. The programming is organized form the Moscow based Federal Center for TV/Radio Program Distribution.
The channel recognized as Vesti, until January 2010, was rebranded as Russia 24.The Russia 24 got active in Russia and United States in 2007; Serbia in May 2008; Kyrgyzstan in October 2008. The Crimean section launched in March 10, 2014 is also working now. The news subsidiary of the VGTRK is banned in Moldova and Ukraine considering the conflict between Russia and Ukraine over the perturbed Crimean site. In the continuous tussle and regional conflicts between the Russia and Europe the channel claims the impartiality and even-handedness regarding the regional battles and global issues; which of course is never agreed to by the European units and Western rivals.
