2020 Tokyo Olympics Will Be Held According to Plans

Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced that Olympic Games set to be held in July in his country will go accordingly with the plans despite coronavirus scare which has already marred some of the biggest world’s biggest sporting events including Basketball, Tennis, MMA and others.

Abe added that IOC: International Olympic would have the final say on the matter.

“We will overcome the spread of the infection and host the Olympics without problem, as planned,” the Japanese Premier added. The land of the rising sun has not face rise in the Covid-19 cases like South Korea and her Asian neighbor China, the epicenter of the China and has so far recorded 1,400 confirmed cases with 28 deaths. Japan will reportedly spend 1.35tn yen to conduct the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Olympic torch-lighting ceremony is due to be held in Fukushima on March 26. The recent torch relay in Olympia, Greece was held in absence of spectators before the rest of the relay in the country was called off to avoid large gatherings and crowds out of the fear of outspread.

Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike said: “We are taking thorough infection measures with regards to the torch relay domestically.”

Meanwhile, several scheduled Olympic trials in US have been postponed including rowing, diving and wrestling to prevent the transmission. The boxing event in London will remain unharmed and go as per schedule on the coming Saturday.
