Allen West, the chairman of the Texas Republican Party, falsely claimed that Texas could separate from America and become an independent nation, a CNN KFile review of his remarks in recent months shows. Moreover, in radio interviews after the 2020 general election, he suggested Texas could vote to become a country once again, as it was previously before joining the United States in 1845.
The former representative said in one radio broadcast in December, which was inscribed into the Texas Constitution. At that time, the officials assured the Texans when they became the party of the U.S.A – that if they decided and voted, they could go back to make their own republic.
However, analysts say that Texas can’t officially secede and leave America to become its own country. West is referring to the annexation resolution to specifies that in the future, Texas could decide to divide itself into five more states but not divided itself from the United States of America and declare independence. So, West confounded the congressional annexation resolution that declared Texas a state for the Texas constitution.
Furthermore, Texas does have a notable history of secession. Previously in 1861, Texas voted in favor of separation and later left the Union to join the Confederate American States, paving the way for the American Civil War. The Supreme Court of the U.S. ruled after the Confederacy lost the war that Texas state had remained a state, instead of joining the Confederate States of America in the act of revolt for almost four years, and that any acts approved by the Confederate-period state government were absolutely null. Ultimately, Texas rejoined the Union in 1870.
West proclaimed to Support a bill that would introduce in the Texas statehouse in January
West also announced in December broadcast to support a bill that would be sooner introduced in the Texas statehouse in January 2021, which might produce a nonbinding referendum election on the decision of whether Texas state should secede. The bill having a slight chance of passing would allow for a vote on whether Texas could form a committee to make a long-standing plan to secede.
Moreover, West’s remarks on separation come as he baselessly and frequently asked the legality of the 2020 U.S. presidential election results and pushed confound claims of huge voting frauds, including the falsehood that Democrats changed the votes through Dominion Voting Software. Following the victory of President Biden, West claimed that at present, the United States is facing an ideological Civil War, and he settled with a radio host who recommended that a real civil war would be worth it.

After the rejection of the Texas lawsuit to overturn the 2020 presidential election results from the Supreme Court, West suggested that maybe law-abiding states should join up and form a Union of states that will stand by the constitution.
West said that the United States is in an Ideological Civil War
Speaking on the Truth and Liberty broadcast on 4th January – two days before the killing of five people at the Capitol riot – West said America already engaged in an ideological civil war. Andrew Wommack, the host of the show, argued that he heard somebody say this can cause a civil war in the country. While other person says that the nation already fought one civil war before. Was it worth it to free the slaves? Is it worth it to save the Constitution of the U.S.?
West also pushed the groundless conspiracy in at least one interview in November 2020 that Dominion Voting Systems changed the results of the votes to ensure the victory of Biden. On the other side, Dominion Voting Systems denies these claims and sued Fox News, attorney Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani for pushing lies about voter fraud in the recent election.
