Apple made A Unforced Mistake with its New iMacs

Apple made a big mistake with its new iMacs - the Bezel (the white frame around the display)

The new iMac of Apple is tremendous: a technical marvel and a peak of stunning engineering achievements of Apple over the last many years. However, it is also ugly as a sin. When Apple overdesigns its electronic products, it’s usually for form over function. Apple removes the headphone jack from the iPhone to make it thinner, dropped USB-A ports on MacBook, and switched the hinges on its keyboards. All these innovations from the company make its products look cool, but they do not work their products any better and efficiently.

But this time, Apple selected the function of its products over form with its new iMacs. They will work great. Apple claims that on a desktop computer, the 8-core M1 chip is going to be extraordinary fast – almost twice as speedy as the last iMac. Surround-sound speakers, studio-grade microphones, and the HD webcam are perfect for Zoom classes and meetings. Likewise, the touch identification (ID) on the keyboard is a nice touch for users, and the display of better-than-4K is going to be classical.

The Problem in the New iMacs

The one problem with the new iMacs is that one needs to look at his new iMac when he is using it. Moreover, these devices come in colors such as yellow, purple, Easter egg blue, pink, orange, and silver. Additionally, Apple added a sort of faded complementary colors to the stand of iMac, which is an interesting design choice. Even if you wisely choose a silver color or if you are a pastel fan, you won’t save from the unusual look of the new device.

The weird chin, the feature of the iMac since 2004, is still there, giving the new device a distinctly last-generation look. Furthermore, the latest version removed the Apple logo, making that odd rectangle at the bottom screen look even stranger. It is the kind of spontaneous error that Apple hardly makes. The M1 chip of the Apple gave it a chance to altogether reconsidering its iMac design. Else, it decided to stick to the familiar shape; it put the computer’s guts below the screen and make the iMac thinner.

Worst Feature of the new iMac

It comes with some advantages, but the result is an artistic head-scratcher. In addition, the worst feature of the new iMac is the bezel (the white frame around the display). The chin of the device makes the bezel really stands out. It was barely obvious in the previous iMac iterations, as it was black. Furthermore, the white contrasts with the chin, and the screen gives a weird appearance to the screen. It is unclear why Apple choose this way, but the firm left some clues.

The iMac is around 11.5 millimeters thick, which is the width of approximately one and a half iPhone 12s. Likewise, it comes with a magnetic power cable because one can move it around while weighing less than ten pounds. The new iMac kind of hazes the lines between laptop and desktop. Only a few people move their desktop computers, so rarely they need light and thin something.
