On Sunday, a massive multi-agency chase including the United States Marshals and the Federal Bureau of Investigation initiated in Austin for a former armed detective of the sheriff who wanted for killing three people near an apartment complex. According to the Austin police, the three dead bodies were all adults, including one Black male and two Hispanic females. Furthermore, they reveal their opinion that the probable suspect is Stephen Nicholas Broderick, who is a former detective of Travis County Sheriff’s Office that previously faced charges of raping a sixteen-year-old girl last summer.

Broderick’s Arrest Carried one Year After he Received a Promotion
Citing an arrest affidavit, KXAN reported last June that the former detective was on administrative leave because of an arrest for accusations of sexual assault. According to the Austin American Statements, American Marshals arrested Broderick on 6th June, three days after the teen girl accused him of sexually assaulting her in a home in Texas. Reportedly Broderick spent sixteen days in jail before he submitted a reduced bail having worth of $50000. Moreover, the court records revealed that his wife filed for divorce and also got an order of protection after his arrest.
Broderick’s arrest carried one year after receiving a promotion from the Travis County Sheriffs Law Enforcement Association. Furthermore, the FBI agents on the suspect hunting scene were classifying the chase of the suspect as a fugitive search.

Broderick knew the Victims
Joseph Chacon, the Interim Austin Chief, states during a press conference that they doubt that the suspect might take a hostage. The authorities also said that Broderick knew the victims but didn’t describe how or provide a cause for the horrific killings. Brenda Torres says that she was driving by the scene when she saw a small boy flag down a car and a Black guy lying horizontally on the ground.
EMS spokeswoman Captain Christa Stedman said that they receive the first 911 call that came in at around 11:44 am about the complaint of three adults killing. Initially, she didn’t know the exact crime scene, but the EMS responded to the scene that included a strip mall and many retail stores with a big apartment complex behind it.

Austin-Travis County EMS tweeted that the agency has fifteen response assets on-scene. No reports of other patients at that time. All assets prepared and staged to go in immediately to the incident location. Dozens of police cars, including many ambulances and two SWAT trucks, were there at the scene. Two police helicopters and a drone also approached there for the operation.
