President Biden Faces Moderate Approval at COVID Pandemic Year 3

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, started his tenure under the long shadow of a devastated Coronavirus pandemic, the January 6 Capitol riot, and an increasingly divided country. As the president rounds the one-year mark of his government, he faces several of those same challenges – all as Biden tries to push through an expensive and sweeping governmental agenda.

The difficulty of the American president of governing through the triple threat of an apparently never-ending outbreak, political polarization from Congress to city halls, and increasing consumer prices all over the country neatly mirrored in approval ratings of Biden, which hover at about forty-five percent. According to the most recent Ipsos poll, since the president took office in the first month of last year, his approval ratings declined with time, with fifty percent of Americans now criticizing his overall performance.

Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, said that that comes with the territory. Last month, she said while calling the president, you have every challenge at your feet – laid at your feet, whether domestic or global. She revealed those remarks when the president’s voting rights legislation halted in Congress. Additionally, she said that Biden’s government could certainly plan legislation to see if Americans support ice cream and bunny rabbits, but that wouldn’t be very worthwhile to the residents.

The Pandemic and the Economy

The vice president of public polling at Ipsos, Mallory Newall, said that there are two main drivers of this discontent of the Biden administration: the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy. In addition, the U.S. Biden campaigned on a platform of tackling the deadly pandemic and healing the wounded economy. As recently, the inflation in the country hit a thirty-nine-year record high; the economy took the lead.

Newall said that the economy and certainly inflation as part of that started to rise as a significant issue, as per the core political data of Ipsos. The market research and consulting firm see that the primary concern for Americans right now is above both problems. Furthermore, the approval rating for Biden on the economy is underwater, meaning more rejections of the job he is doing than approve. And after that, there was a Coronavirus pandemic, which prolonged throughout the country.

So far, the president tried amid those challenges without success – to pull a Democratic slim Congressional majority to support trillions of dollars worth of lawmaking that he says is crucial for the United States to keep pace with the rest of the world. It includes a delayed spending plan worth around $2 billion to address everything from elder and childcare to affordable housing, environmental justice, and paid family leave.

Critics and Republicans slammed the president’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, with fundamentalist columnist Jarrett Stepman describing the vaccination mandates of Biden as draconian Coronavirus policies of increasingly uncertain effectiveness on the website the Daily Signal. Both presidents’ supporters and critics suggested a rest, but Psaki expressed the White House is devoted to its current path.
