Coronavirus could be controlled with more Full Vaccine Approvals by 2022

On Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top United States infectious disease expert, said that the country could control coronavirus by early 2022 with the probable full approval of more vaccines. His remarks came one day after Food and Drug Authority (FDA) grant full approval to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

On the program “Today” of NBC News, Fauci said that if the U.S. gets the overwhelming majority of those eighty to ninety million people who still not receive vaccination and showed resistance towards it or others who have no opportunity for inoculation, can see the light at the start of the coming year.

The director of NIAID said that with the possible full government authentication of Johnson & Johnson and the Moderna vaccines in the coming weeks and the probability of approval of vaccination for children this fall, the administration could turn coronavirus around. On Monday, more organizations and localities in the country said they would require vaccination proof after the announcement that the Pfizer vaccine received the full FDA approval.

Which country is leading in coronavirus infections?

According to the Coronavirus Research Center of Johns Hopkins University, the United States continues to lead globally in COVID-19 infections, with approximately thirty-eight million cases and approximately six hundred thirty thousand deaths. On the other hand, the country donated around half a million vaccine doses of Moderna vaccine to Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank to help contain a new increase in infections.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian Unit, part of the American Embassy in Jerusalem, announced the vaccine donation; following one day, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh stated that they would place unvaccinated government staff members on unpaid leave. The global COVAX vaccine distribution program facilitated the donation, adding the total number of vaccine doses to 2.5 million.

The director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom, urged countries across the world to delay ordering booster shots by at least two months to allow countries with low vaccine shots to receive more. During his visit to Budapest, the capital of Hungary, he told reporters that the organization should give priority to raising vaccination rates in nations where just one percent or two percent of the population received the vaccination.

Tedros also asked about the usefulness of booster vaccination doses and adds that there is an argument about whether booster shots are effective. In the European Union, Hungary became the first country to offer booster inoculation doses and joined a mounting number of countries, including Israel and the United States, that started offering or are planning to offer 3rd vaccine shots to their population. However, last week, the WHO said that it doesn’t believe current statistics support the need for coronavirus booster shots.
