Former Republican President Donald Trump endorsed the retired United States Army colonel and the state senator since 2019, Mastriano. He will face Democratic Josh Shapiro in the November election this year. Once viewed as an extreme candidate, the senator spent nearly nothing on Television Ads and mainly avoided interviews with independent news organizations.
Meanwhile, Democrats were united behind the state’s two-term elected attorney general Shapiro. Shapiro and Mastriano are contending for the right to succeed Democratic Governor Tom Wolf, who is constitutionally term-limited after arriving in office in 2015. Furthermore, the fall general election winner is probably to share power with a GOP-led Legislature, where deep-rooted Republican majorities controlled the floors for approximately all of the past three decades.

Shapiro helped strengthen his reputation with a breakthrough jury probe into child sexual abuse conspiracies inside the Toman Catholic dioceses of Pennsylvania and defending the 2020 election result of Pennsylvania against efforts in court to reverse it by former President Trump and his allies. Moreover, his campaign said Tuesday that Shapiro tested positive for Coronavirus as he was experiencing mild symptoms.
