First Lady Melania says, her son Barron had COVID-19

US President Donald Trump’s 14-year old son Barron caught COVID-19 but has since tested negative for the virus, First Lady Melania Trump confirmed. Mrs. Trump said her fears came true after her son contracted the virus but added: “Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms”. Both the President and her lady were diagnosed with corona along with a couple of WH staffers but have since recovered and are doing well now.

Later at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa the President said: “He (his son) had it for such a short period of time. I don’t even think he knew he had it because they are young their immune systems are strong and they fight it off.”

He added: “Barron is beautiful and he is free.”

The Republican cited the quick recovery of his son Barron as a reason to reopen schools in US which is something teachers’ unions are skeptical fearing their members could contract the virus from their pupils serving as carriers.

Trump informed the crowd: “Barron is tested positive. Within, like, two seconds it was Barron is just fine now. He has tested negative, right?

“Because it happens. People have it and it goes. Get the kids back to school.”

Opinion polls suggest Mr. Trump is trailing Democratic challenger Biden just three weeks before the election. The First Lady detailed Barron’s positive test result in an essay titled “My Personal Experience with COVID-19”, published on WH website. After she and her husband received the positive COVID results two weeks ago, she said “naturally, my mind went immediately to our son”.

She added that it was a “great relief” when their son initially tested negative, but raised alarms after getting her positive reports later on. “My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive,” she said while revealing that their kid had shown no symptoms.

“In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together,” she wrote in her piece. Talking about her own condition. She said she experienced a “roller coaster of symptoms” that included cough, body aches and fatigue. “I chose to go a more natural rout in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food,” she wrote.

In her essay, the Frist Lady also reflected on the “most important part” of her recovery which was “the opportunity to reflect on many things – family, friendships, my work, and staying true to who you are”. Melania Trump confirmed that she would be returning to her job as soon as she could.

While the First Lady embraced isolation at WH, President spent 3 days at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after testing positive. He received a host of treatments that included a steroid, remdesivir antiviral, monoclonal antibody therapy and dexamethasone. Making a return to the campaign trail on Monday, the President told supporters he felt “powerful”.

His personal physician on Sunday confirmed that the Republican was no longer a coronavirus transmission risk.
