Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, announced that he filled the lawsuits against three giant tech companies and accused them that they illegally censored him and other conservative leaders. On Wednesday, he said that they are asking the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida to order an instant stop to shameful and illegal censorship of the American people from the social media companies.
The former president is the lead petitioner in the class-action legal charges against Google, Facebook, and Twitter, including their CEO’s respectively, Sundar Pichai, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jack Dorsey. Trump mockingly described all of them as three really nice guys. But, unfortunately, their CEOs and the companies didn’t remark on the lawsuits of Trump.
Critical Clash Seen
Donald Trump predicted his legal actions as a pivotal battle in defense of the First Amendment. Furthermore, he added that he is confident that his team will achieve its goal and historic victory for American freedom and freedom of speech. Moreover, during the last some weeks of his presidency, Facebook and Twitter banned the then-Republican President Trump when his followers and supporters stormed the United States Capitol on 6th January. Both these social media firms cited their concerns that the social media posts of Trump would further incite violence in the country.
A former Florida attorney general, Pam Bondi, said that Trump’s lawsuits are also for Democratic leaders and even progressive leaders whose speech should be protected under the 1st Amendment. Trump also said during the announcement that he had recruited several tobacco lawyers to took the initiative, including John Coale. Coale is a key litigator in multibillion-dollar lawsuits against cigarette producers.

Center for Democracy and Technology tweeted that the recent lawsuits of Trump against tech companies are a mocking strategy to harass and punish technology companies that ban him from accounting for his statements in advance of the shameful attack on the U.S. Capitol in January 2021. These lawsuits have no merit, and his claims go against both the First Amendment and public interest.

Is there any Chance of Success for Donald Trump?
Under the First Amendment, Facebook has orders not to publish user content it doesn’t want to. Malor predicted that the responsibility shield of section 230 easily comes within that 1st Amendment protection. So, there is zero chance that the former president succeeds in his lawsuits. According to Rebecca MacKinnon, from a constitutional stance, the legal filings are a joke.
