Biden and Trump battle for battleground states with few hours left in Tuesday's election

Donald Trump and Biden made the final push to attract voters as the race enters its final hours. Republican President Trump, 74 travelled to five swing states while his fellow-septuagenarian Biden, 77 stopped at a campaign event in Pennsylvania, a key state where the both the Democratic challenger and his Republican rival will have to walk on tight ropes. What did Trump and Biden Say?

Trump keeping a hectic schedule on Sunday held rallies in Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Iowa. Speaking in Washington, MI, Trump claimed that under his administration the US car manufacturing country has been revived.

Biden, meanwhile turned to Pennsylvania, his place of birth where Trump narrowly bagged a victory in 2016. Polls this year suggest that Biden maintains a narrow lead. The former vice-president addressing a really in Philadelphia promised black community to fight systemic racism in the country and slammed his rival for the poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected the community more than any other race in the country.

“It’s almost criminal the way he’s handled it,” he said. “It’s a mass casualty event in the black community and it’s totally unnecessary.”

Biden also referred to a report by news website Axios which claimed the Republican would declare himself a victor on Tuesday night if he gained some lead. “The President’s not going to steal this election,” Biden said.

The Democrat’s campaign said he and his running mate Kamala Harris would reach “all four corners” of Pennsylvania on Monday and along with them will be pop icons John Legend and Lady Gaga.

Announcement of Results

It usually takes several days to complete the counting of every ballot in US presidential elections but the winner is mostly declared in the early hours of morning. Trump in 2016 stage in NY at around 3:00 local time to deliver his victory speech. However, the things could be very different this year as officials have already hinted that the final result could take days even weeks owing to the increase in mail-in ballots. The last time this happened was in 2000, when the winner was determined via a Supreme Court ruling after delay of a month.
