US Elections: Trump is not willing to concede any time sooner

Facing now an increasingly steeper path to victory, Trump offered a little indication on Friday that he will concede against the Democratic presidential nominee, leading those around him wandering what might be his next move as he has given virtually no thought on leaving the office.

The President despite inching closer to the defeat and trailing behind VP Joe Biden in key states has not yet prepared his concession speech and in conversation with the people closer to him he has given no indication of graciously accepting the defeat according to sources familiar with the matter.

So far, he has been backed in his stance by those closed to him including his senior advisers and sons who have turned to aggressive posturing and have begun to take the matters into the courts and challenge the results and irregularities in a bid to mount pressure on the Democrats. While a small minority which has urged the President to tone down the aggressive rhetoric are being pressured by other Republicans to defend the President.

Top aides including his chief of staff Mark Meadows have not come to terms with Trump over the unsubstantiated claims of election fraud. VP Pence has not been seen since the early hours of Wednesday morning but is reportedly doing his part to pacify the boss by soliciting funds for his legal defense team.

Trump vows to start legal battle for the stolen mandate

The President is not scheduled to appear in public on Friday though an appearance at some point has not been ruled out. Trump has expressed his anger over the efforts of his campaign and fellow GOP-members which have not done enough to bolster his rhetoric. In a written statement on Friday afternoon, Trump expressed his intentions to launch a litigation drive against those who rigged the election.

“This is no longer about any single election. This is about the integrity of our entire election process,” he wrote. “We will pursue this process through every aspect of the law to guarantee the American people have confidence in our government. I will never give up fighting for you and our nation.”

A source familiar with some the legal discussions and involved in the behind the scenes of the strategy said, Trump has started to tell his advisers he may not be able to secure the win by coming form behind.
