Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, breaks the silence on the debacle of Afghanistan as Americans and Afghan nationals try to leave the country after the Taliban seized Kabul. However, she refused to say words on the United States government’s decision-making that bring the current situation.
During her public appearance along with Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, the reporters asked both leaders about the American troops’ withdrawal and evacuation process. Harris said that she thinks there will be plenty of time to evaluate what happened and what took place in the background of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Why Vice President Praised Biden?
Kamala Harris praised the United States President Joe Biden for showing his great emotion in voicing grief about some of the heartbreaking images, but he reiterated that Americans can’t divert in any way from the primary mission right now – the mission of evacuating people from Afghanistan. Afterward, the reporters once again asked Harris about the withdrawal from the region, specifically whether or not she settled with the moves she took in making the decisions, even if the outcomes were not what they planned.

Lee added that countries make calculations and take positions, and pledge to the region will be what the United States does doing forward:
- How it relocates itself in the region.
- How it continues the battle against terrorism.
- Also, how it engages its wide range of partners and friends and allies in the region.
Moreover, Lee discussed the previous involvement of Singapore in Afghanistan and cited the assistant of the Singapore Armed Forces to the international forces in Afghanistan. Further, he added that Singapore sent teams to help with reconstruction.
