Prime Minister Yair Lapid said President Joe Biden and Western powers should halt a nuclear agreement with Iran, claiming Tehran has manipulated negotiations and that an agreement would reward Israel’s enemies. In addition to calling the emerging agreement a “bad deal,” Lapid suggested that Biden has not broken the red line he had previously promised.

At a news conference in Jerusalem, Lapid told reporters that Western nations draw red lines, and Iranians ignore them. Lapid said the emerging deal falls short of President Biden’s standard for stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. As part of the 2015 deal, Biden has sought to revive sanctions relief for Iran in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program. Former U.S. President Donald Trump backed out of the original deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions with Israel’s support.
There is still uncertainty about whether the U.S. and Iran can reach a new deal. In the coming days, Biden’s administration is expected to respond to Iran’s latest offer. In response to what appears to be a near-term agreement, Israel is intensifying its efforts to stop it. Iran insists that its nuclear program will only be used for peaceful purposes. While Tehran spent months negotiating back-and-forth that stalled in both Vienna and Qatar, Tehran has now asserted that the Americans are delaying the deal now.
Hezbollah is Threatening Israel
Hezbollah is threatening Israel in the neighboring country of Lebanon and is likely to receive billions of dollars in unfrozen funds from Iran. Lapid said that the Revolutionary Guard would receive the money, adding that more attacks against American bases would be carried out. As a result, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad will receive this funding.”. In his Wednesday statement, he cited the European Union as one of the negotiating powers swayed by Iranian demands. However, he declined to blame any one nation for the apparent progress of the talks.
A delegation of Israeli national security advisers, including Eyal Hulata, is in Washington this week to speak with Biden administration officials, and Benny Gantz will also travel there. In addition, the head of the U.S. military’s Central Command oversees Middle East operations, and Jake Sullivan will meet with them on Thursday.

He will face off against former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other rivals in the 1st November general election as Israel’s caretaker prime minister. Although they have profound differences, when it comes to Iran, they hold virtually identical positions. As a result, President Barack Obama’s signature foreign policy achievement would be derailed by Netanyahu, now opposition leader, in 2015 when he addressed Congress.
Israel will not allow Israel to Acquire Nuclear Weapons
Israeli officials have long maintained that they will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and are not bound by the pacts between the world powers and Tehran. It has also called for diplomatic efforts to be backed up by a credible threat, in case military action is required, to take place against Iran.
The threat of a nuclear attack from a violent and extremist Islamist regime is not something we can cope with,” Lapid said on Wednesday. It won’t happen. The reason is simple: they will not let it happen.”
